What it is like

A bamboo. It grows 6 m tall. The rhizomes or underground stems are 1-1.5 cm across. The are densely covered with scales. The culms have 25 internodes and are yellowish-green. There are 3-11 branches at each node. There are 2 or 3 leaves on the end branch. The leaf blades are 4-8 cm long by 1 cm wide.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows in Yunnan and Tibet in China in broad-leaved miced forests between 2,500-3,400 m altitude.
