What it is like
A herb. It lies along the ground. It grows each year from seed. It is hairy. The branches are slender and and have leaves with several small leaflets. The leaves are 1-2 cm long. There are 4-9 leaflets along the stalk. The flowers are yellow to orange and pea like. The fruit is a pod 1-3 cm long.
There are about 100 Lotus species.
