What it is like
A grass. It keeps growing from year to year. The stalks are 20-100 cm long. It is spreading and forms tillers. They form roots are the nodes. The leaf blades are narrow and 4-30 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. The leaves are hairy. The flower panicles are 5-15 cm long.
There are about 500 Panicum species.

A tropical plant. It grows in moist ground.
