What it is like

Like an agave. The leaves are in rings. The leaves are 1.5 m long and sword shaped. They are fleshy and blue-green. The flowers have coloured bracts around them. (The stamens are shorter than the perianth members distinguishing them from Agave.) The fruit is a capsule with many seeds.

There are 7 Beschorneria species. Also put in the family Agavaceae.
