What it is like
A straggling shrub. It grows to about 3 m high. The leaves are 0.5-3 cm long by 0.3-1.8 cm wide. They are oval. The flowers are very small. They are green and in clusters in the axils of leaves or at the ends of branches. The fruit is a berry. It is blue when ripe.
There are 12 Berchemia species.
Where it is found
It grows in high altitude thickets and on cliffs between 2,100-4,500 m above sea level in China. They grow in Nepal from 2400-4000 m altitude. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
