What it is like
A shrub. It keeps its leaves throughout the year. It grows 1 m tall. The young shoots are purplish red. It has spines. The leaves are 2 cm long by 6-7 mm wide. The fruit are 7 mm long by 5 mm wide.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. It grows beside rivers at about 2,000 m above sea level. It grows in Yunnan in China.
