What it is like
A tufted grass. It has stolons and keep growing from year to year. It grows 15-100 cm high. The leaf blades are 1-10 cm long and 1-5 mm wide. The flower panicle is narrow. It is 1-13 cm long.
There are 120-220 Agrostis species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In Pakistan it grows between 1,500-4,000 m altitude. In Argentina it grows from sea level to 3,000 m above sea level. It is best in well-drained soils and an open, sunny position. It is resistant to drought and frost. In Yunnan.
