What it is like
A tree which loses its leaves. It grows to about 5 m tall. The leaves have stalks. They are oval to sword shaped and taper to the tip. They usually have teeth around the edge. They are hairy underneath and on the veins above. The flowers are white. They are in a more or less flat topped flower arrangement at the end of branches. The fruit is round.
There are about 50-200 Premna species. Also put in the family Verbenaceae.
Where it is found
In Nepal it grows between 700-1500 m altitude. It grows on open hillsides.

How it is used for food
The ripe fruit are eaten fresh.
