What it is like
A large tree. The leaves are smooth and arranged alternately. They are pointed at both ends. The flowers are small, white and with a smell. The inner bark is red and contains milky sap. The fruit are oval, reddish or yellow. They have a firm outer covering and a single seed surrounded by fleshy smelling pulp.
There are 55 Mimusops species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. They are common and widely found throughout the Islands of the Philippines at low altitudes often immediately at the back of the beach along the seashore.
