What it is like
A bamboo. The stems are 10-15 m tall. It has a creeping rhizome. The internodes are 15-25 cm long and dark green. The sheaths are 13-15 cm long. They are hairy. The leaves are 10-15 cm long and 2-3 cm wide. Plants flower after about 35 years.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. In northeastern India it grows between 1,100-1,900 m above sea level.
