Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In Chile it can grow up to 4,600 m above sea level. In Argentina it grows between 3,500-5,200 m above sea level. It suits dry arid areas. It grows in areas with a rainfall between 100-300 mm concentrated in winter. It suits hardiness zone 8. It can tolerate low temperatures and snow.
