What it is like
A robust orchid. The leaf is reddish at the base. They are 35 cm long. The flowering stem is 90 cm long. It is partly enclosed by a leaf which is like a tube. There are up to 50 flowers crowded close to the stem.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in damp coastal heath, sedgeland and open forest.
