What it is like
A palm. It grows 2 m tall. The stem is mostly underground. The crown of leaves is 2.2 m across. The fruit are yellow to orange and turn purple when ripe. They are 5-5.5 cm long by 3-4.5 cm wide. There is one seed 2.2 cm long by 2 cm wide.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in poor sandy soils in the savannah between 600-800 m above sea level.
