What it is like

A tree. It grows 10-35 m tall. The trunk can be 25-90 cm across. It can have buttresses. The leaves are oval or sword shaped. They are 6-30 cm long by 3-9 cm wide. They are rough. The leaf stalk is 1-7 cm long. The flowering stalks are 25 cm long. The flowers are white to greenish. The fruit is broadly oval. They are 8-10 cm long by 5-7 cm wide. The flesh is yellow. The flesh of the fruit is 1 cm thick. The stone has very coarse fibre.

Where it is found

A tropical plant. They grow in the humid tropics. It can grow along rivers and on flooded land. It grows up to 900 m altitude but is usually below 500 m above sea level.
