What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 9 m tall. The trunk is 10 cm across. The bark is light brown and smooth. The young branches have a few hairs. The leaves are narrowly oval and 10-26 cm long by 4-9 cm wide. The flowering shoots are in the axils of leaves. Male flowers are in groups of 1-5 and female flowers in groups of 1 or 2. The fruit are round and 13-16 mm long by 13-16 mm wide. There are 1-3 seeds.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in forests and near streams between 150-600 m above sea level.
