What it is like

A large shrub or small tree. It grows 5 m tall. The bark is grey and cracked. The branches are slender and drooping. The leaves are simple and alternate. They are 5-9 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. The flowers are in a spike at the top of the plant. The fruit is oval and red. It is small. It has one seed.

Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows on the edges of forests in the hills in southern India. It grows between 450-900 m altitude.
