What it is like
It can grow on other plants or on rocks. It is large a coarse and without a stem. The leaf stalk is as long as the leaf blade. The leaf stalks are 15 cm long by 1-1.5 cm wide. The leaf blade is 50-60 cm long by 15-20 cm wide. It narrow towards the base. The flower spikes are 15-25 cm long by 1 cm across. They are red to green. The fruit are 2 cm across.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in humid forests and also in exposed situations. They are usually near sea level but can be up to 1,000 m above sea level.
