What it is like
A tree. It grows 5 m tall. The trunk can be 15 cm across. The leaves are narrowly oval and 5-17 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. The fruit are green and covered with prickly like lumps. The pulp is creamy white.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in flood plain forests. It grows about 8° north and south of the equator. It grows in black water rivers along the Amazon. In Colombia it grows at about 115 m above sea level.
