What it is like

A small tree. The leaves are leathery and oval. They are 5-9 cm long by 2-3.5 cm wide. The flowers occur singly in the axils of the leaves. The flower stalk is 2-3.5 cm long. It is slender and slightly hairy. The fruit are 7-8 mm across with many very small seeds. The seeds are black and shiny.

Also put in the family Theaceae.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. It grows throughout Taiwan from 200-1,900 m altitude.
