What it is like
A tree. It grows 12-20 m high. The trunk is 60-70 cm across. The plant has white sap. The branches are flexible. The leaves are alternate and on stalks 1 cm long. The leaves are 6-11 cm long by 3-6 cm wide. The fruit is oval and 7-8 cm long by 3.5-4 cm wide. It is made up of small fruit in a large head. There are many seeds. These are 8-10 mm long by 6-7 mm wide.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. In Bolivia it grows up to 500 m altitude. It grows in areas with rainfall of 1,000-2,000 mm rainfall per year.
