What it is like

A tree. It grows 20 m tall. The trunk is 30 cm across. The bark is greyish brown and smooth. The small branches are flattened and have a rusty coating. The flowering shoots are opposite the leaves. There are 2-3 flowers in a group. The fruit are yellowish green. The are almost round or oval. They are 4 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. They have a dense grey coating. The seeds are flat and half round.

The Annonaceae are a mainly tropical family. The wood of this one is hard and used for carts and agricultural implements.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in mountain evergreen forests between 400-700 m altitude in southern China. In Yunnan.
