What it is like
A tree. It grows 15 m tall. The crown is rounded. The trunk is 10 cm across. The fruit is oval and 3 cm long by 2.2 cm wide. It is grey or brown with red-brown scales. There are 1-3 locules with one seed each. The aril of fleshy layer around the seed is white, pale pink or yellow.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in primary and secondary forests up to 2,000 m above sea level in Indonesia.
