What it is like
A grass. It grows in tufts. These can be 1 m tall. The leaves arch over. They are 20-30 cm long. The flowers are pink to purple in spikes. The flower spikes are 30 cm above the leaves.
It is regarded as an invasive weed.
Where it is found
It is a Mediterranean climate plant. In the Middle East it grows between 600-3,000 m above sea level.
