What it is like

A herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows 60-100 cm tall. It has carrot shaped roots up to 2.5 cm across. The leaves are 3-7 cm long by 2-3 cm wide. The leaves on the stems do not have stalks. Several flowers occur together. They are funnel shaped and blue.

There are about 40 Adenophora species. They are temperate plants.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows best in a light rich slightly alkaline soil. It needs a sunny position. It does not like having its roots disturbed. It grows on the edges of forests in north China.
