What it is like
A herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It has a single stem and grows 1 m tall. The leaves on the stem usually do not have leaf stalks. They are narrowly sword shaped and 3-19 cm long by 1-5 cm wide. There can be teeth along the edge. The flowers are in a loose panicle with long branches. They are pale blue, pale purple or white. They are tube shape or urn shaped. There are some subspecies.

It is a temperate plant. It grows in central and western China. In grows on the edges of forests and on grassy slopes between 1,100-3,600 m above sea level. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
