What it is like
A climbing shrub. It grows up to 9 m long. It loses its leaves during the year. The leaves are oval and 8-22 cm long by 3-9 cm wide. The flowers are reddish. The fruit is up to 2.7 cm x 1.5 cm.
There are 40-60 Actinidia species. The Actinidiaceae are a mainly tropical family.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It occurs naturally in Eastern China in thickets on mountain slopes between 500 - 900 metres in Fujian and S Zhejiang Provinces.
