How it is grown
Requires a gritty, moisture-retentive but well-drained circumneutral soil and a sunny position. Plants can be short-lived in cultivation.
Propagating it: Seed - sow spring in a greenhouse. Only just cover the seed and make sure that the compost does not dry out. Prick out the seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle, over-wintering the young plants in the greenhouse for the first year and then planting them out in late spring. Division in spring.
