What it is like
Siphonostegia chinensis is a ANNUAL growing to 0.5 m (1ft 8in). It is in flower from June to August. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Meadows and grassy slopes in hills and low mountains all over Japan. Dry mountain slopes and grassland at elevations of 800 - 3400 metres in China.
