What it is like
Rulingia dasyphylla is an evergreen Shrub growing to 3 m (9ft 10in). It is frost tender. It is in flower in May. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

How it is grown
Succeeds in most soils and situations in Australian gardens. This species is hardy to about -7°c in Australian gardens, though this cannot be applied directly to British gardens due to our cooler summers that often fail to fully ripen new shoots, and our longer, colder and wetter winters.
