What it is like
Mosla chinensis is a ANNUAL growing to 0.4 m (1ft 4in). It is in flower from July to September, and the seeds ripen from August to November. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Virgin wilds and roadsides. Grassy slopes and forests from sea level to 1400 metres in Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan provinces.

The whole plant is anodyne. It breaks up clots and resolves gonorrhoeal discharges. A decoction is used in the treatment of traumatic bruises and pain, poisonous snake bites, heat-stroke fever and itching from oozing rash.
Anodyne: Relieves pain, it is milder than an analgesic.
