How it is grown
Succeeds in any good garden soil preferring a warm light soil and a sunny position. This species is sometimes cultivated as a salad crop.
Propagating it: Seed - sow early spring in a greenhouse. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in late spring. If you have sufficient seed, then it can be sown in situ in the middle of spring. In areas that experience few frosts an outdoor sowing in situ in early autumn will produce larger plants.
