It is used in the treatment of symptoms caused by insufficiency of the lung-yin, such as dry cough, sensation of dryness and an itch in the throat and sputum with streaks of blood. it is used in patients suffering from dry mouth, thirst and dry stool due to insufficiency of the stomach-yin. it can also be used in the treatment of patients with hemafecia caused by fire of deficiency type. 3. restoring qi and moistening dryness. it is prescribed for patients having such conditions as loss of body fluid, manifested as dryness of mouth and tongue and fatigue caused by debilitation as well as vomiting and diarrhea.
